The National Institue for Cancer Research (NICR) entered into a collaborative research agreement in cancer biology with a “premier” cancer center, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI).
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Prof. Milena Králíčková, Rector of Charles University, on behalf of the NICR grant recipient, Michelle L. Cox, Senior Vice President Research Operations, DFCI, and Prof. Aleksi Šedo, Director of NUVR, and Jonathan-Duke Cohan, Principal Associate in Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Principal Research Scientist, DFCI, on behalf of the scientific content.
The partnership builds on previous multi-year individual project collaborations between scientists from both institutions, significantly expanded in the last 5 years on the platform of the Centre for Tumour Ecology of the Operational Programme Research, Development and Education, led from the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University.
The codified collaboration is relevant not only for the NICR’s own scientific work, but also for inspiration, for example in the areas of sharing good practice in project organisation and management processes and expanding opportunities for contacts and mobility of PhD students and postdocs affiliated to NICR.
The formalisation of our cooperation is not only a significant opportunity but also a commitment to make the most of it.
