Under the auspices of the National Cancer Research Institute, a brainstorming meeting – mini-symposium “Fighting Cancer Development” was held in Dresden on 27-28 May, organized by Meritxell Alberich Jordà from the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the CAS. Her research group in the Laboratory of Haemato-oncology focuses on elucidating the mechanisms that regulate the maintenance and fate of haematopoietic stem cells, with a particular interest in granulocyte differentiation. Around two dozen participants in the mini-symposium discussed current research projects in the field of “Stem Cells and Cancer”, key results and challenges, with the aim of establishing the basis for closer collaboration between the different laboratories. More detailed information about the programme can be found on the website of the M. Meritxell Alberich Jordà research group.
