Laboratory of Cancer Treatment and Tissue Regeneration

Good research tells us why cancer occurs and how it behaves. The best research tells us how to prevent and treat it.

  • Mission: To understand the behaviour of gastrointestinal cancers in relation to diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
  • Vision: To increase the clinical potential of therapeutic strategies, improve quality of life and overall survival of our patients by studying cancer and regeneration of affected tissues in clinically relevant in vitro and in vivo models.

Our laboratory deals mainly with the clinical side of cancer research. We represent a wide team, connecting clinicians – especially from surgical disciplines, oncologists, and radiologists – with academic researchers not only from the Biomedical Center but also from other institutions, such as the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. We deal with long-term research issues, especially colorectal cancer, liver metastases, pancreatic cancer, and other gastrointestinal malignancies. Our group has created an extensive database of prospectively monitored diseases and their clinical development in connection with treatment. Concerning their processing, we are mainly involved in the formulation of clinical issues related to the diagnosis, treatment, and prediction of disease outcomes.
