On 24-25 June 2024, the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute hosted prominent foreign experts focusing on neuro-oncology. The conference “Current challenges in neurooncology: meet the Young Neuro-Oncologist experts“, which was also held under the auspices of the National Institute for Cancer Research, featured lectures by Johnny Duerinck, Alessia Pellerino, Marjolein Geurts and Johan A. F. Koekkoek, as well as domestic speakers Tomáš Kazda, Michal Hendrych and Petr Výmola. These foreign guests and Tomáš Kazda worked for several years within the EORTC – Brain Tumor Group as young neurooncologists and further developed their knowledge and skills in neurooncology under the guidance of an assigned mentor. The conference was very important to promote further collaboration in education and clinical and translational research on brain tumours. Another important outcome of the meeting was to strengthen the motivation of young Czech neuro-oncologists to international collaboration and participation in international congresses on neuro-oncology. The event was also attended by visitors from Hradec Králové, Prague and Olomouc.
