Programme of the 17th Czech Annual Cancer Research Meeting covered current subjects from molecular pathology and predictive oncology all the way to the research and development of new diagnostic methods and novel anti-tumour medications. This year, this traditional multidisciplinary meeting, previously known as Days of Diagnostic, Predictive, and Experimental Oncology, was co-organised by the National Institute for Cancer Research (NICR), whose board has met as part of this broader meeting of researchers.
‘In connection with creation of the NICR, we have decided to transform the traditional Days of Diagnostic, Predictive, and Experimental Oncology into one joint comprehensive nation-wide event. We would like to follow in this direction also in the future and create a national meeting of researchers who are active in cancer research, from the basic one all the way to clinical research. I am happy to be able to say that this year, we have welcomed in Olomouc about 230 participants. I believe they had the opportunity to get to know each other better and work on further improving mutual collaboration,’ noted Marián Hajdúch, medical director of the NICR.
The two-day conference took place on 1–2 December in Olomouc. Like in previous years, it coincided with the 17th Symposium of Molecular Pathology and 105th Olomouc Seminar on Histopathology. These meetings have been for many years helping to create the right environment for the development of cancer research, exchange of experience, and establishment of new collaborative efforts. In the future, thanks to involvement of the NICR, the conference could come to form a broader platform for support of and communication about cancer research in the Czech Republic and its recognition in the international arena.
