Proteins (and not genes) are the true molecular effectors in cancer cell.
- Mission: To identify and characterize proteins and molecular pathways associated with cancer progression and metastasis.
- Vision: Well characterized prometastatic proteins can become relevant diagnostic and therapeutic targets in solid cancers.
Solid tumors typically represent molecularly heterogeneous diseases which can even molecularly develop during the patient life, depending on treatment availability. While current technologies allow a routine DNA sequencing, genome analysis with focus on hereditary and somatic mutations as well as analysis of gene expression based on RNA-Seq, much less data were obtained on profiles of proteins as true effectors in the cells.
