RESEARCH PROGRAMME(S)
RP 2 - Research and development of anticancer pharmaceuticals and therapeutic methods
Designing new proteins to find new drugs.
Our main research goal within the NICR project is the design, development and testing of new protein constructs targeting oncologically relevant targets such as cell receptors with a focus on the role of T, NK and Treg immune populations in the treatment of oncological diseases.
When designing new proteins, we use standard tools of sequence and structural bioinformatics and computational methods of molecular modeling, including molecular dynamics and related empirical potential methods. Experimental protein development relies on directed evolution methods, especially ribosome display and yeast display. In these methods, we use original protein scaffolds developed in the laboratory, and therefore their eventual commercial application cannot conflict with patent protection from foreign entities.
In the project, we plan to use our experience with the development and testing of cytokines and proteins of innate immunity. We target both these signaling molecules and their cellular receptors. We focus on the signaling systems of pro-inflammatory interferon lambda, interleukin 9, or anti-inflammatory interleukin 10.
