RESEARCH PROGRAMME(S)
RP 1 - Molecular basis of cancer and molecular targets
RP 2 - Research and development of anticancer pharmaceuticals and therapeutic methods
Even for tumor biology, a child is not a miniature adult...
- Mission: To elucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms that lead to the development of resistant solid tumors in children.
- Vision: To use the knowledge of the pathogenesis of pediatric tumors to refine the diagnosis or prognosis and to select a precise treatment that is targeted to the specific tumor.
LTB focuses on solid tumour research, especially in childhood. All our research activities are closely linked to clinical applications – our main goal is to characterize the biological properties of tumors that are linked to the process of oncogenesis at the cellular and molecular level. Knowledge of these mechanisms of tumorigenesis can then help clinicians refine the diagnosis or prognosis of a particular disease, thereby enabling the selection of the most appropriate treatment for each patient.
