Molecular biology of cancer: Risk factors and biomarkers of an onset of malignant diseases

The tumor cell never gives up!

  • Mission: To make tumor visible by the means of biomarkers and dissect the treatable targets.
  • Vision: To map risk factors in malignant diseases and identify molecular biomarkers of onset and progressioin of gastrointestinal and some gynaecological tumours.

We will investigate modification of genetic information, mainly DNA damage, changes in gene expression, including epigenetic markers in tumors of gastrointestinal tract and some gynaecological tumors. Systematic approach will be applied in the study of heritability and individual susceptibility predominantly in colorectal cancer and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. In addition, we will focus (with other subgroups of IEM) on gene-gene and gene – environmental interactions
